Open DT call

Hi, everyone! It's that time again! We're looking for 3 new designers to join our team for the upcoming New Year. The term will run from January through March.

Please send us 3-5 samples of your most recent work to butterflyinkersDT@gmail.com. Your samples can be cards, pocket pages and/or layouts of any size. I really would like to get a good mix of people/styles in this term as the last one was full of fabulous card makers. If you've applied for the team before, PLEASE make sure you're sending NEW artwork. We'd also love links to your online galleries, blogs, YouTube channels, etc., anything that will give us an idea of what your creative style and abilities are. Please include if you are currently or have been on any other Design Teams in the past and tell us a little about yourself in a short bio.

This is a 3 month commitment starting in January and going through March. You must be willing to create 4-6 projects per month with at least one blog post per week. We do ask that you be exclusive to the online shop for Design Team work. You can design for manufacturers, blogs, kit clubs, etc., but we would appreciate it if you stuck with our online shop only for the 3 month term. We are still trying to expand and gain new customers so sharing links to the shop is required at a minimum of 3 times a week via various social media outlets. This is a BIG part of the DT's job and we appreciate you helping us get the word out.

In return for your creations and promotion, you will get $30.00 worth of free product each month. You will also get a 25% discount to add goodies to your monthly order! The shop is FULL of goodies and you'll be able to get yourself some at a generous discount. What's better than that?

If this sounds fun and like the opportunity for you, please send us your application. The deadline is Friday, December 19, 2014 at midnight EST. We will go over all the applications and choose the best fit for the shop. Thanks for the continued support and we look forward to seeing all of your incredible creations.

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each!

I used my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool for the first time and loved it! I cut my own Tim Holtz watercolor paper to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by Lawn Fawn Hello Baby with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Distress Inks.  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things Snuggle Bunnies for the girl and Magical Dragons for the boy.  I colored m…

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog.  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!
Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.
What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.
For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.

I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks will work the same.  It&#…

Open DT Call for Spring/early Summer Term!

Happy Spring, everyone! The weather here is... confused. LOL Thursday we had 50 degrees, Saturday we had 10 inches of snow and today it was 50 again. We just celebrated my son's 21st birthday on Thursday as many of you know from taking advantage of the celebration sale! Thanks for that. I spent all day packing and shipping orders during the day and then went out for dinner (and his first legal beer) when he got out of work that night. I honestly can't believe he's TWENTY-ONE, such a milestone and it's weird having a man child. HA! Yesterday, we spent the snow day in pjs and doing nothing which was a welcomed change. Today, my husband took our younger son skiing and my daughter and I had a girls' day which was nice. We went out to breakfast, did a little shopping and saw Beauty & the Beast. That's the lowdown over my way. I hope you've all been enjoying the weather, your families, crafting, work or whatever makes you HAPPY! :)
With the change of seasons a…
