Year in Review and Welcoming the Newest DT Members!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Year's Eve. I had said at the beginning of last year that it was going to be my year and it totally was. (At least in my opinion! HA!) Aside from a couple of scary things with being sick in the spring and a few bad days (everyone's entitled, right?), I really had an AWESOME year and have a lot to be thankful for. I have a supportive hubby, great kids, a beautiful home and I know we are very fortunate.

I had my first Design Team for my shop (who were all AMAZING I might add). I got to know many new people and welcomed a bunch of new DT members (also fabulous). I got to attend CHA and my business grew so much more than I expected, I was overwhelmed with proudness. I was blessed with Jennifer McGuire sharing a link to my shop not once, but TWICE and as such a huge fan of hers, I was just beside myself. She is seriously an amazing person that I admire and look up to so it really meant so much to me. Not to mention she's a crafty genius! ;) hehe She's well-loved and for good reason! Speaking of amazing people!!! Shanna Noel also designed the first two exclusive stamp sets for my shop and I couldn't be more happy that she was willing to do so. She's so sweet, artistic, an overall beautiful person and good friend. I adore her! Jennifer and Shanna, I truly love you both and will be forever grateful for your support. I'm also so very thankful for the girls behind the scenes so to speak! Shawna, elly and Amanda, THANK YOU for all you do for me. I love and appreciate you all!!! Now speaking of appreciation! (This is a book now! HAHA) To my amazing customers, I wouldn't have had the year I did without you. Simple as that so THANK YOU!!!

I was *this close* to ending the year on order #1977 last night, the year I was born and where my 77 thing stems from. Literally missed it by 1 minute. As a somewhat superstitious person, I hope it's not a sign that my luck is over (EEK!!!) and I'm a little more hesitant in welcoming 2015 because this past year was so great, it doesn't seem like things could get better. I just hope that's not the case, for myself and for YOU! I hope the year is amazing to us all and wish you all health, happiness and everything else you hope for! xoxo

Now let's get to the NEW Design Team girls for the January - March term, shall we? :)

First up is Coralynn Murray from New Brunswick, Canada. She is married with two sweet girls and started crafting only 2 years ago. She formerly sold Close to My Heart (as did I) and this is her first time on a Design Team. WOOOO HOOOO!!!

Next is Angel Rivera. Angel is a military wife and mom of 3 boys. She is on the Your Next Stamp and The Alley Stamps Design Teams and has also been on several other Guest DT's including one of my personal faves, My Favorite Things. Angel and I have a similar sense of humor so I think she'll fit right in! (Pssst! Angel is celebrating her birthday TODAYYY!) Happy Birthday to YOU, Angel!

Last, but certainly not least is Marcie Sharp!!! How could I resist a self-proclaimed social BUTTERFLY? ;) Marcie is from Ontario, Canada where she's a SAHM. She loves reading, social media and card making of course!!! Here's one of her beauties.

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each!

I used my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool for the first time and loved it! I cut my own Tim Holtz watercolor paper to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by Lawn Fawn Hello Baby with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Distress Inks.  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things Snuggle Bunnies for the girl and Magical Dragons for the boy.  I colored m…

Altenew’s 4th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 3 + Giveaway

Hey, hey BRI friends!  We're hopping today to celebrate the 4th Birthday of Altenew, one of our favorite stamping companies!  You should have arrived here from the Altenew blog, and we're glad you're here to share the excitement! There are prizes and inspiration and it's going to be FUN!

With you today, is Norine from The Velvet Lemon creating for Butterfly Reflections Ink and I have some projects to share today, that I made using some recently released Altenew products.
First up, are these two cards created with the Mega Succulent stamp set.

I stamped the image onto water color paper using the MISTI, then turned on the music and sat and colored.

I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils so I could more easily control where the color would sit and then painted with a water brush.  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of vellum, heat embossed with clear embossing powder to ensure that the ink wouldn't smudge, then tore the vellum and wrapped it around the card …

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog.  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!
Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.
What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.
For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.

I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks will work the same.  It&#…
