"Vacation" Scrapbook layout //Simple Stories Hello Summer Collection

Hey crafty peeps...Heather here to share another beachy summer layout...I used Simple Stories Hello Summer collection again plus some Silhouette cut files and a little mixed media experiments!  The picture is of my daughter and husband during one of our sunset shell collection missions on our annual beach vacation....which, at the time this will be posted, I will be on that family vacation in Myrtle Beach...woohoo!!
I printed the photo as an 8x10 and trimmed it down to line up with my title and I love the way it looks!
I started with a piece of white cardstock and added a little mixed media mess on the background so it would peek out behind the embellishments and can't go wrong with Distress Inks! I used Abandoned Coral, Work Lipstick, Peacock feathers, Tattered Rose, Evergreen bough, & Squeezed Lemonade.
I cut the outline of the title on my Silhouette and cut the actual letters from the Hello Summer 6 x 8 paper pad.  How cute are those little sunglasses...?? They are from the sticker pages from the collection.  I popped them up on pop dots and added some glossy accents to the lenses with my new Precision Top Glue bottle! oh how I love it....
I tucked stickers from the 6 x 12 chipboard and fussy cut flowers from the 6 x 8 paper pad around my title and photo.  The large flower is a cut file that I backed with another patterned paper.
My favorite part about this layout are the sea shell cut files that I inked up with the same distress oxide inks I used on the background. They add the perfect touch to the story of this layout.  I typically cut images with my silhouette I white cardstock because I know I can alter them to match any paper collection.  To add texture and a "watery" look, I applied glossy accents on parts of the sea shells.
The "beach" die cut is from Doodlebug Sweet Summer Chit Chat embellishments and it matches perfectly!
To finish up, I added sequins scattered about the page from Pretty Pink Posh Sweet MintNeat & Tangled Sunset Shimmer, Pretty Pink Posh Tutti Fruitti. They add just the perfect amount of sparkle and detail!
Thanks so much for taking a look and I hope you are inspired to create your own embellishments with white die cuts and distress inks! Head over to the shop to check out all of the Distress Inks and Simple Stories Hello Summer Collection.
Have a great week!

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each!

I used my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool for the first time and loved it! I cut my own Tim Holtz watercolor paper to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by Lawn Fawn Hello Baby with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Distress Inks.  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things Snuggle Bunnies for the girl and Magical Dragons for the boy.  I colored m…

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog.  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!
Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.
What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.
For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.

I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks will work the same.  It&#…

Open DT Call for Spring/early Summer Term!

Happy Spring, everyone! The weather here is... confused. LOL Thursday we had 50 degrees, Saturday we had 10 inches of snow and today it was 50 again. We just celebrated my son's 21st birthday on Thursday as many of you know from taking advantage of the celebration sale! Thanks for that. I spent all day packing and shipping orders during the day and then went out for dinner (and his first legal beer) when he got out of work that night. I honestly can't believe he's TWENTY-ONE, such a milestone and it's weird having a man child. HA! Yesterday, we spent the snow day in pjs and doing nothing which was a welcomed change. Today, my husband took our younger son skiing and my daughter and I had a girls' day which was nice. We went out to breakfast, did a little shopping and saw Beauty & the Beast. That's the lowdown over my way. I hope you've all been enjoying the weather, your families, crafting, work or whatever makes you HAPPY! :)
With the change of seasons a…
