Gather Happy Moments - Hello Bluebird

Hey there! It's Ashlea, and I'm sharing my first every Hello Bluebird card. Eeeek! This is so exciting.  I'm using the Woodland Littles stamp set and if you know my style at all, you'll know that I don't always opt for cute critter cards, but, I'm only human and occasionally have to give in to the cuteness. There were a few different techniques I used in this card so lets get started!

For my scene, I started by stamping what would end up being my "top" image, or the most up front image, which happens to be the acorn on top of the tree trunk. From there, I masked the acorn and stamped the squirrel, then masked that and stamped the tree trunk. I repeated this process with the acorns on the ground as well. I love using masking in my projects to add dimension and interest to a scene. I then hand drew the birch trees which is way easier than it sounds. Birch trees are literally two not straight lines parallel from each other and then smaller lines periodically placed inside of those lines just in a lighter color. Seriously, try it. You'll surprise yourself. After I finished the scene I cut it out using a scalloped circle die. Here's one like the one I used.

I then colored everything in using Copic markers, including the sky and grass. I made sure the sky and grass faded out by using my colorless blender on the very edge of the color. For my sentiment I used the "Gather Happy Moments" sentiment from the set and embossed it in white on a piece of black card stock. To embellish the sentiment a little more I used the solid leaf stamp and cut it out using the coordinating dies.

I hope that you enjoyed learning a little more about how I created this scene using the Hello Bluebird Woodland Littles stamp set. If you love using Hello Bluebird stamps as well, share your favorite project you've made with me in the comments! I'd love to see them. I'll see you agin very soon! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each!

I used my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool for the first time and loved it! I cut my own Tim Holtz watercolor paper to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by Lawn Fawn Hello Baby with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Distress Inks.  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things Snuggle Bunnies for the girl and Magical Dragons for the boy.  I colored m…

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog.  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!
Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.
What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.
For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.

I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks will work the same.  It&#…

Open DT Call for Spring/early Summer Term!

Happy Spring, everyone! The weather here is... confused. LOL Thursday we had 50 degrees, Saturday we had 10 inches of snow and today it was 50 again. We just celebrated my son's 21st birthday on Thursday as many of you know from taking advantage of the celebration sale! Thanks for that. I spent all day packing and shipping orders during the day and then went out for dinner (and his first legal beer) when he got out of work that night. I honestly can't believe he's TWENTY-ONE, such a milestone and it's weird having a man child. HA! Yesterday, we spent the snow day in pjs and doing nothing which was a welcomed change. Today, my husband took our younger son skiing and my daughter and I had a girls' day which was nice. We went out to breakfast, did a little shopping and saw Beauty & the Beast. That's the lowdown over my way. I hope you've all been enjoying the weather, your families, crafting, work or whatever makes you HAPPY! :)
With the change of seasons a…
