Altenew 6th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 2 + Giveaway!

Welcome, crafty friends!

If you just arrived from Mindy Eggen's blog, you're in the right place!

I'm so thrilled to be sharing these projects I made for the Altenew 6th Anniversary Blog Hop!

Altenew has produced so many of my favorite stamp and die sets over the years - and my very first floral stamp was an Altenew set!

There's tons of great ideas along the hop today, and I hope you feel inspired to do some creating after you see all the fabulous projects. So let's get to the cards!

For the first card, I revisted one of my favorite techniques - ink blending over versamark.

I cut down a piece of Specialty Stamping paper to 4 x 5.25 inches and then used the Wildflower Doodles stamp set and Versamark ink to stamp the repeating images on the paper. I then heat-set the paper and applied Coral Berry ink all over the paper. The Versamark ink resists the ink and gives a lovely muted white result.

I glued the finished background piece on to a cut and scored 4.25 x 5.5 inch card base and then started the other elements.

I had a few assembled floral and leaf die cuts from the Wild Rose 3D die set in my scraps and the colors matched PEFECTLY! I adhered them down with foam tape to a stamped Pen Sketch Mandala image that I cut in half with my scissors, and then mounted that assembled element with foam tape and adhered it down to my background.

To finish off the card, I glued down a die cut from the Flower Arrangement coordinating die set and then completed the sentiment with using a "beautiful" stamp from the Amazing You stamp set.

For the next card, I used the Warm Sunshine watercolor brush marker to lay down the background watercolor wash on to a 4 x 5.25 inch piece of watercolor paper. After that wash dried, I used the Wildflower Garden stamp set and some Distress Oxide inks to stamp the images on to the watercolor washed background.

I used a sentiment from the same stamp set and stamped it in the upper right hand corner of the watercolor wash to finish off the card panel.

To complete the entire card, I adhered the finished panel on to a cut and scored 4.25 x 5.5 inch card base.

For the last card, I started out by cutting and scoring a 4.25 x 5.5 inch card base from dark blue colored carstock.

I used a Circle Frame die to cut out a piece of pale pink cardstock and glued it down to the card base, and then used the same die on a piece of vellum paper so I could use the negative circle space. I used one of the small stamps from the Flower Arrangement stamp set and some white pigment ink to stamp the small white images on to the piece of vellum. I turned the stamped vellum piece over and then applied liquid glue on to the areas where the stamping had been applied so that the glue would be hidden behind those stamped images. After the glue was applied I turned the vellum circle piece back over and adhered it down to the card base within the frame.

I then applied white nuvo drops to the center of the white floral images for some extra dimension,

Using several stamped and die cut images from the Flower Arrangement set, I arranged them all together and glued them down to the card as well, making sure the leaves were peeking out from behind the larger floral images. I used the Mega You die to create the first part of the sentiment, and then stamped the rest of the sentiment using a phrase from the Folksy Floral stamp set . I used the Deep Blue Seas, Cherry Blossom, Green Valley, Green Meadows, and Pocketful of Sunshine mini ink cube sets for the floral and leaf images in my bouquet.

Let's get to some special details of this hop!

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my  We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool  for the first time and loved it! I cut my own  Tim Holtz watercolor paper  to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by  Lawn Fawn Hello Baby  with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral  Distress Inks  and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron  Distress Inks .  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things  Snuggle Bunnies  for the girl and Magical Dragons for th

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog .  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!   Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.  What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.     For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.   I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks w
