Don't Blink!!

Hello!
Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a FUN layout about our super BRIEF encounter with 'snow' here in South Carolina, last winter! It was SOOOO quick, it melted before touching the ground, and if you blinked, you would miss it! Ha! But it still counts, right?!

Ha!

I started by using gesso on my background, and then went crazy with the watercolor and paints in peaches, pinks, purples and black! SO FUN! Super loving that color combination! :) The gesso protects the white cardstock from deteriorating from all of the water and paints!

Once it was all dry, I used some white embossing paste and this AMAZING Knight Sky Stencil by Echo Park to add some stars and texture! After attaching those fabbie wood veneer chevrons, I covered them in clear glitter Stickles!! LOOOOOOVE that look!

And even though this is a winter layout, I used LOTS of ephemera from the Pink Paislee Summer Lights collection!! The pinks and purples were perfect matches! I also added some puffy stickers from various collections like Snow and Cocoa and Cute Girl

Lastly, I paired some of the White Woodgrain Puffy Alphas from Evalicious with some super old Thickers in my stash for the title!
And of course, I used my sewing machine to stitch things onto the layout!

I hope this layout inspired you to maybe get messy and painty!
Enjoy!
~Samantha

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each!

I used my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool for the first time and loved it! I cut my own Tim Holtz watercolor paper to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by Lawn Fawn Hello Baby with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Distress Inks.  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things Snuggle Bunnies for the girl and Magical Dragons for the boy.  I colored m…

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog.  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!
Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.
What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.
For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.

I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks will work the same.  It&#…

Open DT Call for Spring/early Summer Term!

Happy Spring, everyone! The weather here is... confused. LOL Thursday we had 50 degrees, Saturday we had 10 inches of snow and today it was 50 again. We just celebrated my son's 21st birthday on Thursday as many of you know from taking advantage of the celebration sale! Thanks for that. I spent all day packing and shipping orders during the day and then went out for dinner (and his first legal beer) when he got out of work that night. I honestly can't believe he's TWENTY-ONE, such a milestone and it's weird having a man child. HA! Yesterday, we spent the snow day in pjs and doing nothing which was a welcomed change. Today, my husband took our younger son skiing and my daughter and I had a girls' day which was nice. We went out to breakfast, did a little shopping and saw Beauty & the Beast. That's the lowdown over my way. I hope you've all been enjoying the weather, your families, crafting, work or whatever makes you HAPPY! :)
With the change of seasons a…
